Singing for the community at the Magnolia was a treat. After singing for a filled room with more people lined up outside, we received a double encore and were approached by many residents telling us how we took them back to their younger years when traditional barbershop quartets were more commonplace. Seeing the residents’ faces light up when we sang was the most rewarding part of the whole experience; to me, music is about creating community and sharing common ground. At Magnolia, we were able to accomplish just that.
